Here’s some exciting news! As an extension to yesterday’s post Products Breastfeeding Moms Actually Need I’m doing a giveaway! And I am so excited that not only is it practical, it’s pretty, stylish and environmentally friendly too. Designer cotton nursing pads!”
I investigated more closely, an Etsy company I had seen advertised on Twitter called BabyO’Really, and the girlie girl inside the practical breastfeeding mom couldn’t resist. I mean, it’s the same thing as deserving a nice lacy bra right? It is still practical for the function it serves but we get to feel extra cute (and in this case, cosy!) and somewhat less “momsy” under our shirts. After nursing for almost five years with no end in sight, continually leaky breasts, and the owner of four pairs of old cotton nursing pads, which just today I realized were hand-me-downs (!) and therefore not surprisingly they are stained and almost grey from use, I went and bought a delightful new pair for myself. I chose cute and funny over stylish or sexy. I’m at the stage I need to have a sense of humour about my over active letdown. See the cows and milk bottles? On the other side they say “moo…moo…moo” over and over again. I think they’re adorable. And they are so soft against my skin! I wore them all day the day of my garage sale when I didn’t think I would be nursing very much. But of course my boobs didn’t decide to leak that day. Either that or the pads worked extremely well! But let me tell you it was hard to choose only one pair. Amber has many, many different kinds of fabrics that can suit all tastes.
Amber makes her five layer nursing pads featuring one layer of the softest flannel fabric next to the breast, three layers of super absorbent birdseye cotton fabric, and a decorative cotton top layer. These are larger than your run-of-the-mill cotton pads and have a 1 cm circumference advantage over regular nursing pads to keep you extra dry (I measured them against my old cotton ones). As a bonus, she tucks a small gift inside each order. As you can see in the picture I received a ball of handmade soap, some mother’s milk tea and a lovely recipe card for Lactation Cookies. All were beautifully wrapped and presented.
A few pairs of these would make a great new baby gift for a new mom. I urge you to check out her site and buy some of her beautiful designs!
Giveaway closed.

Hey Cous!
I would have to say the cupcakes are the cutest. Come on, just makes sense…babies are cute as cupcakes…momma’s breast are nummy to baby like cupcakes. Gotta be the cupcakes pattern.
Baby #5 arriving anytime in the next few weeks at our house. Breastfed them all so far…and can’t wait to enjoy those quiet moments again.
Blessings,
Tara
Great sight! Have lot’s of advice for mom’s who need help…eg. it took 13 weeks before baby #1 could latch on himself. Perseverance is a virtue. Well worth it in the end.
I know that it is the very first one on her Etsy page, but I looooove the little birdies! Too cute!

I like the green with pink polka dots!
I follow on twitter!!
I also subscribed by email. Thanks!
I like the bubbly green ones….they seem the most earthly to me…man I am so predictable! If I had to choose one though I might just go with not so plain Jane….I get really practical about whether something will see through a bra or a shirt. I was tempted with Harlequin because just choosing something with that name kind of makes me feel a bit sexier!
I am so digging the sushi ones!

Baby #1 arrives for me in November! And I’m loving:
the blue, yellow & brown leaves – reminds me of being environmentally friendly
the pink and black dainty damask – a bit of girl power
the pink cupcakes – really, what is better than a good cupcake!
This is great, I’ll certainly spread the news!
These are wonderful! I’m loving them!
My favorites are the brown, blue, and green circles, the brown, yellow and light blue leaves, and the neutral pair. (Though, the green, brown and small blue dots are also pretty great!)
Your blog is a great place for shower gift ideas and for soon-to-be mums like myself
Number 3 arrives in October and I wish I’d seen these for number 1 & 2!
The green apple A la Mode, black and pink All Atwitter, and Candyshoppe are top of my hit list – this has got to be sooooo much more comfortable than the disposable ones I’ve been using.
My leaky breasts would love to be covered by Candy Shoppe!
What a great selection of patterns… Etsy is a dangerous place…
I tried to order breastpads from her 3 months ago and have not received them. She has stopped replying to me on Etsy, so I made a complaint with Paypal for my money back. Just FYI.
