I was contacted by a representative of Bravado Designs to do a review of one of their new nursing bras. They have two: The Allure Underwire Nursing Bra and the Sublime Nursing Bra. I happily agreed. I have been wearing the same three nursing bras for at least two years so I could use a new one for vanity’s sake. And guess what! They are all Bravado Designs! (Original Nursing Bras – all in great condition I might add.) The company didn’t know this before contacting me. For this review I received one black Bravado Allure Underwire Nursing Bra. This is Bravado’s first underwire nursing bra, and it is the first underwire bra I have worn since I started breastfeeding just over five years ago!
The Allure Bra
Three things that are important to me in a bra are the three F’s: Fit, Function and Fashion. The Allure Bra succeeds in meeting all three.
Fit
The Allure Bra fits breast sizes ranging from B 32 to F (DDD)/G 38. It has a three-dimensional stretch in the cups so your breasts have room to grow. If you don’t quite fill the cups you can use the extra room for nursing pads or that sexy spill out of your bra effect I’ve never experienced until I wore this. My husband liked it. I didn’t mind either, except for when I wore it with a low cut shirt and dropped something on the floor of the grocery store, only to straighten up and meet the gaze of a pleased young man. Oh well. I’ve exposed more on purpose just breastfeeding! It has four columns of hooks and eyes for great adjustment.
Function
The Allure Bra is intended for breastfeeding moms who have been nursing over two months and it is not recommended for sleeping in. After two months a mom’s milk supply should be established and the concern of plugged ducts leading to infections like mastitis is lessened. The Allure Bra was created with the input of Lactation Consultants who recognize it for its superior comfort, high quality and healthy fit. I wore an underwire non-nursing bra a few times after my first daughter was born and within a few hours I had plugged ducts and had to remove it. Although my milk supply is well established after five years of breastfeeding (Although I still leak sometimes!) I have worn the Allure Bra all day for two days and have had no breast discomfort, other than the fatigue that comes with having your boobs propped up after wearing nothing but cotton bras for two years. This bra has a round, wide wire, which is slightly shorter than the wire channel also helps to subtly distribute weight and avoids pinching or constricting the breast tissue, which is what can lead to breast infections.
Its cups drop fully and easily away from the breast to provide skin-to-skin contact with baby and it has clasps that are easily undone with one hand. However, I did find that the material needed to be folded over completely as it doesn’t scrunch down on its own. I’ve never worn lined push-up-type cups before but did think the molded cups were a nice touch for providing discretion from nursing pad outlines and pokey-outy nipples. The material is made out of a premium spacer fabric and is such that its breathability and lightweightness lets you stay cool and dry.
Fashion
The Allure Bra is pretty and sexy, two things nursing moms deserve to feel. It has some lovely feminine touches like non-scratchy lace and lightly embroidered straps which were designed to maintain a seamless look under clothing. It also has a plunging v-shape to its design so those of us large breasted women can actually wear a v-neck shirt and not worry about having to hide the tube-top-like bras, which are all of my other nursing bras. Personally, I’d rather spill out of my bra than show off my bra. But that’s just me. This bra is perfect for a date night or moms going back to work who need to look good for their job. I love that it picks up my breasts and makes them look like they did when I was in my pre-children 20’s. It comes in ivory and black.
Overall, I am very pleased with the Allure Underwire Nursing Bra and feel confident recommending it to nursing moms whose milk supply is established and wear it for the duration of a work day. Unless you are very used to wearing an underwire some moms might feel tired or restricted in it for any longer. I love that I have a beautiful addition to my nursing lingerie attire that gives me the option to better my appearance. Thank you Bravado for this wonderful opportunity.

Oh what I wouldn’t give to win this giveaway! I’ve been nursing for 2.5 years and am currently tandem nursing my 3 month old and 2 year old. I have yet to find a good nursing bra that meets the three F’s requirement. I’ve heard fantastic things about Bravado bras though and would love the opportunity to try them out! I’m off to follow you on twitter and subscribe via Rss. Thanks for the chance!
I bought a couple of different nursing bras before I had my son and I only wear my Bravado! I’m so in need of a new one!

Oh gosh — the Bravado bras are most DEFINITELY my favourite. I think I will continue to wear the ones I have even after I finish nursing!!
I’d love to try out this new one — it’s one I don’t have in my collection and it looks SO cozy!

I am nursing my fifth child now…so you can only imagine the condition of some of my nursing bra’s. I only like to wear Bravado – all the others pale in comparison. I sadly threw my first Bravado bra out this year…it was 10 years old. After nursing that many babies…that testifies to the longevity of the Bravado products! And I will admit, that they are so comfortable that I continue wearing them long after I’ve finished nursing – BRAVO Bravado!
Wow, I really really love my Bravado bras AND nursing tank tops–and I am VERY EXCITED to see they have come out with an underwire option! I have a very difficult to fit size; 30 FF/G (and of course ‘pendulous’ after nursing three babes), so for me bra shopping is about as frustrating and painful as a root canal! And freaking expensive!!! I love Bravado because they provide sizes outside the normal range, are functional and comfortable, and now have an underwire option!
Count me in!

I would love to win this bra! My breasts are a bit larger this pregnancy, and I am worried my old bras won’t fit. Besides, I would love to get the “girls” a lift. The other nursing bras I have don’t give the best shape. Thanks for the opportunity. Oh, and check my blog, I posted a link back to the giveaway.

I’d LOVE to win this bra. I only have three nursing bras currently and none of my regular bras fit anymore. I didnt get a chance to really check out nursing bras when I bought mine because my baby was born at 28 weeks and when my milk came in I was staying in a hotel room out of town to be with my baby so I just bought the first two bras that fit at the hospital’s store. I’d love to have a nice pretty bra. My little one is now 14 months old and we dont see an end to breastfeeding in site, we probably wont stop until his little brother or sister is on the way, and only then because I’m high risk for preterm labor.

I would love a new nursing bra. My little nursling is now a hefty 21-month old toddler, and she’s drained enough weight off of me so that my original Bravado bra is just too big now! My other ones need a much deserved break from the rotation.
And I subscribe via RSS.
I so want this bra. I’ve been desperate to find a decent nursing bra, and Bravado always gets the best reviews! It’s a little pathetic – I;m still wearing my sleep bras ALL DAY because they;re the only comfortable ones I’ve found!
Thanks for the chance!

You’ve convinced me! I’m due in 10 days and didn’t know where to start looking for nursing bras. I purchased 2 medela soft support to get me started and now I know what brand to go to for the more supportive bras. I’m trying to make breast feeding as easy as possible (as this is my first), so I’m doing lots of research, which your blog is great for. I’d love to get this bra, as the costs of being a first time mum are really adding up and spending money on myself is getting more and more difficult to rationalize.
Number three is coming shortly, and I still haven’t updated my nursing bras since #1 first arrived. I’m on the larger side and have always been unlucky finding anything remotely supportive in the small town I live in. This would be a huge help for me!
I’m in a bit of an unusual situation, I came to Canada 5 years ago to marry my wonderful husband who I met when we were both teaching English in Korea. But, one problem I have (being from Japan) is that all the brands I am familiar with are not available to me – even living in a big city. I don’t have many friends with children here and I don’t know where to start finding a good nursing bra. (I did see your older review that really helps.) This would be great to try out and see if it works for me as well as it seems to work for everyone else!
Thank you for the opportunity!

I’ve had three children in less than 4 years so I have been nursing for a long time now. I went to our local maternity store and tried on about 10 bras not caring about price because I really want one that fits properly. I was not happy with my purchase and could use one that works for me. Hope I win.
I always beat up my nursing bras, so at 16 mos. and counting, I could use a new one! (If I need to put the rest of these in separate comments, pls email and I will.)

I could use some good news ad would love to win this bra. Last week I tried to insert garlic into my vagina (to remove any Strep – not for a good time) and this week I was told to put evening primrose oil up there! My baby dropped over a month ago (extremely early) and I’m dying to get this kid out, unfortunately my cervix isn’t feeling the same way!
I need a new bra because the clip on my old one broke. I just order a new Bravado bra online but I am allowed to have two, right?
