I love quizzes. I really do. When someone hands me a questionnaire or something to fill out, my eyes gleam with excitement. I get diappointed at doctor’s offices when I can’t check any of those little boxes that ask if you have a pre-existing health condition. So many boxes, so few health troubles. Yes, I’m a bit strange this way. Anyway, I decided to make a quiz for the blog. I pretty much know how most of my faithful readers will answer but I’m open to being surprised, so if you want to leave a comment about your answers I’d be happy to read them. And thanks for doing my little test. Isn’t this fun? Whee!

a. Know from personal experience that it’s a great way to make night time breastfeeding and parenting easier and increase the bond between mother and child.

c. Tell him he’s too young for such an adventure and suggest he play the latest violent Nintendo game instead.
10. You’ve just had a baby and your health care provider is showing you your placenta. You
a. Ask if you can take it home because you want to do art with it, eat it or plant a tree with it.

c. Practically vomit at the sight of it, yelling that you don’t need any reminders of the hell you just endured.
11. When you hear about climate change you
a. Are determined to do everything in your power to contribute to a healthier world.
b. Want to cry because your kids are going to get left with such a mess if this generation can’t do something to stop it.

c. A group of indignant, advice-giving, know-it-all moms who make you feel bad about your values and choices but really do seem to know what they are talking about.
The Results
If you chose mostly a’s then you have just become my new bff!
If you chose mostly b’s then I would say you are a thoughtful, educated person who just happens to not always make the same decisions as I do, except sometimes, because I might cry when my daughter decides to ride her bike around the neighbourhood by herself for the first time too, but so far she’s only 5 and still using training wheels so that day isn’t quite here yet. And I firmly believe not everyone has to be exactly the same to enjoy each other’s company and learn something from one another so you are always welcome here and I look forward to reading your comments and engaging in dialogue with you about anything.
If you chose half a’s and half b’s then you know from reading the above that I think you’re pretty swell and that you’ve already been reading or have just stumbled upon a blog that you will be able to relate to.
If you chose a little bit of all the letters then I still think you will be able to relate. The fact that you are so well rounded in a diverse number of ways means you are open to all sorts of ways of doing things. You likely already will take what works and leave the rest. You know yourself and what works for you and your family. Very cool.
If you chose mostly c’s then I think you are a. Likely joking just to see what I’d say about it, b. Raised at NRA meetings sponsored by Nestle eating lamb held inside Walmarts with a dozen television sets blaring TLC’s A Birth Story or c. Not likely to feel very at home reading this blog.
If your answer is c, feel free to leave a comment and tell me and I can point you towards some blogs that I have stumbled upon that I didn’t feel very at home reading. While I urge you to open your mind and give my blog a try I will be serving chickpea chocolate cake at tea time. Just a warning… (lol!)

OK, the only one I tanked on is the placenta. It doesn’t have to do with a reminder of birth, but really, for me it is an ick factor. I really don’t like blood, especially my own. I nearly fainted when I chopped a bit of my finger tip off. So, I would almost be your BFF Oh wait, I love chicken, but try to eat a vegetarian one meal a day!
georgine´s last blog ..I Made This Skirt!
Thanks Georgine! I know it’s a major ick factor for a lot of people – it certainly is for my husband who blanches every time he comes across my placentas (yes I still have both!) in the freezer. “Melodie’s placenta! Do not Eat!” It’s supposed to be funny but I don’t think he gets my sense of humour when it comes to storing body parts. And as for the chicken, I have to be accepting of people who eat meat because both my husband and best friend eat meat. If I wasn’t I’d be a very sad and lonely woman!

Umm … I was mostly A’s with one or two B’s. Can we be best friends? Too bad you’re across the country …
I also have my placenta in the freezer. In an ice cream tub. I forgot to put in under the cherry tree we planted in front of my dining room window this summer … SIGH.
Seriously though, great idea! I love quizzes too!

I’m with the a’s all the way except the placenta and bike riding. Your blog brings back all the wonderful memories of when my children were babies. Thank you.

@Kim and @Evelyn – Honestly, depending on the day I swing between a and b on some of those too. A and B can be interchangeable for many of them I think. Oh well. Sometimes I wish I could just get up and go visit a lot of you. I sure would enjoy exploring the countryside! If only daycare paid that well! Thanks for the sweet comments!
Melodie´s last blog ..Quiz: Is This Blog For Me?
I answered half a’s half b’s. I just recently came across this blog and have loved what I’ve read of it! Since giving birth to my second child 7 months ago, I’ve become an active participant in being my own breastfeeding advocate. I’m making a point to learn all I can about it and other “crunchy” parenting techniques. I don’t cloth diaper, but only because I don’t have the $ up front for all the diapers. And as a stay at home mom, I’m having a hard time convincing my husband to give me a small chunk of his hard earned paycheck to go towards buying some.
Aside from that, and the vegetarian aspect, I think we’re pretty much on in the same chapter if not on the same page.
Anyway – I love quizzes too and I had fun doing this one! I cracked up about the “raised in NRA meetings…” part.

Erin W.´s last blog ..Tired.
I’m all A’s except the placenta, on which I said B. (Peeper’s was weird – velamentous cord insertion – so there was much looking and discussion, whereas with a “normal” one, I probably wouldn’t have even been shown. So, some good came of the weirdness, because I really did want to see it, but probably wouldn’t have thought to ask, in the heat of the moment.)
The veggie one was B with a bit of A and a tiny bit of C.
On a few others I was A and also B. (Like the breastfeeding ones – the healthiest choice AND a great way to bond; a great way to parent a toddler AND the WHO recommendation. Also the homebirth question – yay for her, but I had a hospital birth and if by some chance I had another, I’d love a freestanding birth center but there are none around here. Boooooo.)
On the seeing a mom NIP question, I’d like to do A but I usually chicken out on actually saying something to her, and end up doing B. Because I’m a big dork.

I also love this blog, but I want to nicely remind you that being a republican doesn’t negate breastfeeding, cosleeping, cloth diapering, gentle discipline, attachment parenting or healthy eating/environmental habits. I’m not trying to be mean or nasty or push a republican agenda, just a friendly reminder. There are some Conservative Conservatives out there and we love our kids too!
But, I’m a quiz nerd too, and I had fun reading these. Thanks!

Fun Quiz!! Would love for you to check out my blog here…http://kenziepoo.blogspot.com/2009/11/lets-go-shopping.html
Thanks Heather,
You’re right. I will take out the Republican part. I was purposely trying to make that choice as ludicrous as possible and there’s going to be someone telling me that they belong to the NRA but is the crunchiest mom they know or that watching A Birth Story just gave them further strength to have a homebirth, etc etc. It’s funny how I always lean to American politics and organizations as my reference point too. I’m Canadian living in Canada! Shows you how much American culture influences my blog, but that’s where most of my readers are so I try to make it applicable. Anyway, thanks for the comment.
Melodie´s last blog ..Quiz: Is This Blog For Me?
I just told my husband the other day that I wanted to get my next placenta encapsulated, and his response was “Of course, that’s a great idea… it’s so good for you! I read all about it in the Bradley book.”
He never ceases to shock me. He’s too awesome.
I think I answered mostly A’s, but if you’d asked me 2 years ago what I thought of #2, I would have said “bedsharing is nutz!” Obviously I feel a little differently after my second son came along and LOVES co-sleeping (my first son does NOT.) Sometimes I think it takes having a certain type of kid before we become a certain type of parent.

I LOVE a good quiz, too!! Haha, I thought I was the only one who enjoys paperwork & filling things out. LOL
I got mostly A’s & a few B’s.
#7, about being a vegitarian, I don’t eat red meat but I do eat fish & poultry. #9, bike riding, I would let my eight year old ride around our street but not the whole neighborhood. #10 was B. #12 was A & B, but mostly A.
Thanks for this fun quiz!!
@Gina – I actually had you in mind when I wrote the answer for b for co-sleeping!

Melodie´s last blog ..Quiz: Is This Blog For Me?
I just love a good quiz, especially one where my answers get me a new bff.
I ALWAYS volunteer to be the one who fills out forms, too.
I got all A’s except for these two:
Co sleeping is only successful for us when one of us sleeps with her. We do it occasionally as the situation warrants, but I have to say that I love being in bed with my man.
The placenta question really hit me in the gut. As a part of my birth plan, I asked to see mine, but I felt like doc took it away before I got the amount of time with it that I wanted, you know, to really explore that phenomenal organ that linked me to my baby all those months. If we have another child, I will ask to keep it.
lol I love the C answers! Totally made me smile. All A’s. Surprise. Although I did not get my homebirth or the placenta. I was too uneducated to argue the point on either and quite simply too in shock that I was actually, finally pregnant to even focus on it. Oh well. I’d ay next time, but one bundle of joy is more than enough.
Thanks for the quiz. Yep, I enjoy taking them and then seeing how crazy the answers can be just to throw things off.
A’s except for the vegetarian stuff, which were B’s. I know it’s healthier, but I like a side of bacon every now and again (step aside, chicken! Throw me the bacon!!! Joking). I admire your vegetarianism.
I thought your Cs were hilarious!!
I wanted my placenta after my c-section but was too chicken to ask. I did bury my other placenta under an oak tree on my parents’ farm though! Too cool!
I love quizzes, too.

Half and Half, I really enjoy reading your blog while I may not feel that some methods are for me. I love learning about them and even consider them for my family.
I believe you have helped empowered me to breastfeed my son in public without shame {more time to get use too} and I hope other will stumble upon this blog and have the same outcome.

Oh, hooray, I think I can be a BFF, or at least an F!
I agree with Whozat that on those two breastfeeding questions I answered both A & B, even though I suspect that is against quiz rules.
And when I see a mother breastfeeding, I want to do the right thing, but I’m not always sure what it is. Maybe the new Milk’s Up sign? (Is that going to catch on for reals?)
I asked to keep my placenta, but somehow ended up leaving the hospital without it, sigh. Oh, well, at least I got to see it. I had a BIG baby, and the midwives said the placenta was the size they usually see for triplets. So maybe it wouldn’t have fit in my freezer anyway!
I had a transferred home birth, btw, so I still chose A on that one.
For the biking one, I want to be A but wonder if I’ll be B. (My kid’s 2 right now.)
And for the last question, is there such a group as A? Because I need to join.
And here’s where you might revoke my BFF membership. It’s actually A Baby Story, not A Birth Story. I know because I used to watch it all.the.time until I got into studying natural birth and Hypnobabies and realized it would totally break my hypnobubble of positivity regarding birth. Now I can’t stand it, and I yell at the set if I happen to catch even a glimpse of an episode, so am I allowed back into the fold?
