3320742_blogI love quizzes. I really do. When someone hands me a questionnaire or something to fill out, my eyes gleam with excitement. I get diappointed at doctor’s offices when I can’t check any of those little boxes that ask if you have a pre-existing health condition. So many boxes, so few health troubles. Yes, I’m a bit strange this way. Anyway, I decided to make a quiz for the blog. I pretty much know how most of my faithful readers will answer but I’m open to being surprised, so if you want to leave a comment about your answers I’d be happy to read them. And thanks for doing my little test. Isn’t this fun? Whee!

1. When you think of breastfeeding you

a. Believe it is the healthiest way to nourish a baby.

b. Feel it is a lovely way to bond with your child.

c. Think, “what’s the big deal? It’s no better than formula.”

2. When you hear the terms “co-sleeping” or “bed-sharing” you

a. Know from personal experience that it’s a great way to make night time breastfeeding and parenting easier and increase the bond between mother and child.

b. Think that it ist be good for some families but not yours.

c. Think that it’s ridiculous and unsafe. What did they invent cribs and second bedrooms for if it wasn’t to use them?

3. When you hear about someone having a homebirth you

a. Feel excited for them knowing that it is the safest, most empowering way a woman can welcome a child into the world.

b. Can support it for some women but you would prefer to give birth in the hospital.

c. Firmly believe it’s another stupid way women put their unborn babies and themselves at risk.

4. When you hear about a mother having a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC)  you think

a. Good for her! Every woman deserves the chance to birth her baby naturally.

b. I wish I could have one but my doctor absolutely refueses to let me.

c. That it is a pretty dumb idea unless she’s planning on dying on the delivery table.

5. Breastfeeding a toddler is

a. An excellent parenting tool: Good for treating tantrums, building further immunity to future illnesses and raising a healthily attached child.

b. Recommended by the World Health Organization who says that you should breastfeed for at least two years and beyond that as long as both the mom and child want to.

c. Obscene.

6. If you saw a woman breastfeeding her child in public you would

a. Smile at or give her some words of encouragement.

b. Look away but silently congradulate her for her contribution to increasing public breastfeeding acceptance.

c. Get on twitter and tweet an inflammatory description of what you just saw.

7. When you hear about vegetarian cooking you think

a. Mm. Healthy and tasty. Show me a new recipe.

b. I’ll try it, but can I have a side of chicken?

c. Yuck. Vegetarian = tofu. Next!

8. When you hear about people raising their children vegetarian you think

a. What a compassionate way to raise healthy children.

b. I’d like to discuss this with the parents to make sure their children are getting all the proper nutrients.

c. Those parents should be shot!

9. It’s a bright sunny day and your eight year old wants to go for a bike ride around the neighbourhood. You

a. Give him his helmet and tell him to have fun.

b. Quiz him on hand signals, what to do if a stranger approaches him, hand him a map of your town and a couple of quarters before bursting into tears as he rides away.

c. Tell him he’s too young for such an adventure and suggest he play the latest violent Nintendo game instead.

10. You’ve just had a baby and your health care provider is showing you your placenta. You

a. Ask if you can take it home because you want to do art with it, eat it or plant a tree with it.

b. Look at it with awe and maybe even touch it but tell the health care provider you don’t want to keep it.

c. Practically vomit at the sight of it, yelling that you don’t need any reminders of the hell you just endured.

11. When you hear about climate change you

a. Are determined to do everything in your power to contribute to a healthier world.

b. Want to cry because your kids are going to get left with such a mess if this generation can’t do something to stop it.

c. Laugh and think it’s a world wide political hoax to get you to open your wallet a little wider.

12. You’re idea of the perfect mom’s group is

a. A group of women who are all into breastfeeding, cloth diapering, baby wearing, co-sleeping, gentle disciplining and healthy eating.

b. A group of women who may not have everything in common but who respect one another’s choices and support each other through the tough times.

c. A group of indignant, advice-giving, know-it-all moms who make you feel bad about your values and choices but really do seem to know what they are talking about.

The Results

If you chose mostly a’s then you have just become my new bff!

If you chose mostly b’s then I would say you are a thoughtful, educated person who just happens to not always make the same decisions as I do, except sometimes, because I might cry when my daughter decides to ride her bike around the neighbourhood by herself for the first time too, but so far she’s only 5 and still using training wheels so that day isn’t quite here yet. And I firmly believe not everyone has to be exactly the same to enjoy each other’s company and learn something from one another so you are always welcome here and I look forward to reading your comments and engaging in dialogue with you about anything.

If you chose half a’s and half b’s then you know from reading the above that I think you’re pretty swell and that you’ve already been reading or have just stumbled upon a blog that you will be able to relate to.

If you chose a little bit of all the letters then I still think you will be able to relate. The fact that you are so well rounded in a diverse number of ways means you are open to all sorts of ways of doing things. You likely already will take what works and leave the rest. You know yourself and what works for you and your family. Very cool.

If you chose mostly c’s then I think you are a. Likely joking just to see what I’d say about it, b. Raised at NRA meetings sponsored by Nestle eating lamb held inside Walmarts with a dozen television sets blaring TLC’s A Birth Story  or c. Not likely to feel very at home reading this blog.

If your answer is c, feel free to leave a comment and tell me and I can point you towards some blogs that I have stumbled upon that I didn’t feel very at home reading. While I urge you to open your mind and give my blog a try I will be serving chickpea chocolate cake at tea time. Just a warning… (lol!)
