It’s almost been a year since I started blogging. I love that I started right at the beginning of a year. It’s pretty much right up there with the joy of renewing my car insurance on January 1st, which is perfect for taxes. This is perfect for reflecting on a true full year of blogging and what I’ve learned along the way. For instance…

5407784_blogWhat makes a hot post? Is it the number of hits it gets? Is it the one with the highest number of comments? Is it the post that creates the most buzz on the day it gets posted? If you look at my right hand side column you’ll see a few of my “most popular” posts, which have received the most hits. Some of these certainly aren’t the ones with the most comments though. And as they have changed over time I have been surprised by the “popularity” of a couple of them in particular. Like The Canadian Maternity Experiences Survey: My Answers post, and a few months ago the post with the most hits was A Breastfeeding Mom’s Getaway. Since neither of these are very exciting, in my estimation, I can only assume they did well in google via tag words. (Did anyone else’s survey post do well?) But my personal favorite posts are the ones that get the most comments (excluding reviews and/or giveaways).

So here are my Top 10 Most Commented On Posts of 2009 (pingbacks not included). Again, a couple of surprises here. Especially the post in first place.

1. Monday Musings: Disappointments

2. The Princess and The Chickpea (and The Grape and The Walnut)

3. Are Breastfed Children Less Likely to Sleep With Dolls?

4. Names for Breastfeeding

5. Products Breastfeeding Moms Actually Need

6. Do You Nurse Your Baby To Sleep?

7. 7 Reasons I’m Sending My Child to Public School and the Three Big Reasons I Wish I Wasn’t

8. Monday Musings: How Strict Are You About What You Put in Yor Body When Breastfeeding?

9. Monday Musings: What Do You Do When Breastfeeding?

10. Monday Musings: Were You Breastfed?

Two things I have learned by reviewing my posts from the past year is that 1. Posting your feelings about blogging brings people out of the woodwork, and 2. I really should bring back my Monday Musings meme! It appears people like answering questions!

What do you think? And which one of these was your favorite?
