This is an excellent reminder to all moms. Not many people think of breastfeeding as a survivalist tactic but it truly is! I wrote today about what people in Haiti might be facing at the moment and emergency preparedness strategies which you might be curious to read:

Well said Mel! What a great post, it brought a few tears of sorrow, & made some very great points about the importance of breastfeeding. It also brought on a sense of pride that I nursed my first for so long, he still gets the occasional drink now & then (he’s 3 1/2)… my heart goes out to all those babies, mama’s & families everywhere that face, & have survived such a tragic ordeal.
Indeed I have offered to nurse another baby, & am quite certain I would in the event of a crisis, thank you for your informative insight on this global quest to help & educate.
Sending light, healing thoughts, & love to Haiti…
