Hey, you know how I feel about extended breastfeeding :) I just celebrated my 3 year, 3 months, 3 weeks, 3 days anniversary of breastfeeding my little guy.

By now it's been 3 years, 4 months, and 2 weeks. And he keeps going and going...

Love, love you blog.

I was so excited when I first heard about this book and read an interview with the author. She just seemed so no-nonsense and grounded, and her calm demeanor counteracted, as you say, a lot of the heebeejeebees surrounding breastfeeding older children. I need to read this, like, now.

Since you referenced the terminology discussion, I'll float this out here first: I'm leaning toward "long-term breastfeeding" to describe any post-whatever breastfeeding. (It can be mother-defined, but would probably mean past 1 year or so.) It's open-ended so could extend till...whenever! And there's no implied pressure attached, either way, I think.

That sounds really interesting. I've added it to my wishlist, maybe if I'm lucky I'll get it for my birthday. :)

Sounds interesting! I'll have to see if my library has a copy ( or can get one from interlibrary loan). I especially think the anthropolgy/history aspect sounds interesting.
