Bébé Au Lait Nursing covers are some of the most stylish covers on the market. Breastfeeding moms who desire modesty will find these covers perfect to suit their needs.
Bébé Au Lait nursing covers have two features I really like. One is their rigid neckline which provides some ventilation and allows mothers to keep that all-important eye contact with their babies. This is something other nursing covers don’t have which many moms feel is important. Another feature is their terry cloth pockets which come in handy for storing small items like breast pads, burp cloths or pacifiers. They also can be used for quick clean ups all on their own. The nursing covers are 100% cotton, machine washable and light weight to keep both mom and baby from getting over-heated.
For the purposes of this review I received a Bébé Au Lait nursing cover in a print of my choice. I chose Mint Chocolate.
At the recent surprise birthday party that I threw for my husband I recruited one other mom to help with with this review. We received feedback from numerous other party attendees. I should disclose that my friends and I aren’t a very modest bunch of breastfeeders so everyone took notice when we donned the cover. (This is the first time either of us had used a proper nursing cover.) However, we do support anyone who would want to use one if it helps them feel better about breastfeeding and maintain their modesty values. Anything that can help a mom nurse longer and more comfortably, we’re all for it!
Amy has a 4 1/2 month old son. When she donned the cover he was completely hidden from view. Amy liked that she could still see her son as needed and felt that this cover would be great for distractable babies. Her partner thought it looked like she was getting ready to have her hair cut. In her defense, when she was sitting in a proper chair (here she is on my fireplace hearth) the cover looked more like a fashionable shawl.
When I nursed my 34 month old a friend commented that it looked like I was trying to hide my toddler. “No officer, there’s no baby under here!” But my nursling loved it. She’s going through a phase right now where she loves to nurse wrapped up in blankets and play cave in the bed sheets. I think with all the noise and movement at the party she appreciated the makeshift fort, milkies included. I will use this again for the destimulation aspect for sure!
I love that Bébé Au Lait also makes Simple Organic nursing covers. Did you know they are also the company who makes the original Hooter Hiders? These guys have been around quite sometime and they know a thing or two about how to make popular nursing covers!

I also like the Kensington, it’s more to my taste than the others, even though the Sevilla also comes close to what I like
I love the mint chocolate ! I also like the Hot Dots.
Although I do love the idea of mint chocolate (just had some in the ice cream version the other day), I think I’d have to go for the black eyelet. I have to nurse at work sometimes, so this would be fabulous – I share an office with 3 older gentlemen…
I’m very shy and due in 2 months, the black eyelet would be perfect!
Oh, it’s certainly the Kensington for me!
I like the Parfait one in the Babe Au Lait and the Nest one in the Hooter Hiders

I’m thinking the black eyelet would work best for my wardrobe, but I do like the pink shrine, aqua shrine, and Kensington as well!
My 2 year old daughter keeps exposing me when I’m nursing my newborn! The shrine pink cover could solve all my problems!!!
Know doubt, it’s the Kensington!
Black Eyelet is the one for me!
I’m with Mel, Mint Chocolate!
I’m a bit nervous about breastfeeding in public, so I’ll go for the solid black one!
I could rock the Parfait!

Hey Melodie – I like the Valencia best. I have had mixed feelings about nursing covers, because I wish women could just feel comfortable about nursing in public. However, we’re not living in that perfect world yet, so I figured ok, it’s a compromise, etc. on our way to a better world.
And what were they thinking when they named their other line Hooter Hiders? Crikey. I have a friend who uses a HH, but I don’t think I ever would because of the name setting my teeth on edge.
However! Now my little one seems to be growing into a distractible baby who likes to unlatch and throw her head back to have a look around. At home, no problem. But on the plane, in the restaurant, meh, I’ve been flashing people. I think if she couldn’t see, she’d do the head throwing less, and I’d be bothered less by it… So I guess I’m in the market for one of these!
