A classic recipe with a twist! I have substituted linguine in this otherwise classic recipe because I can’t find any whole grain fettucine in this town. And whole grain pasta is important to me. And usually pretty easy to substitute, except in this case. But you can use whatever kind of pasta you would like (I’ll never know!).
Linguine Alfredo
One 375 gram box of whole grain linguine
1/4 cup butter
1 cup whipping cream
3/4 cup parmesan cheese
salt and pepper to taste
1 clove garlic
1/2 lb mushrooms, sliced
fresh parsley, chopped as garnish
Directions: Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and the mushrooms. Sauté for 5 minutes. Add cream and parmesan cheese, stirring well. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add salt and pepper. When pasta is done, drain it and return it to the pot. Pour cream sauce over the pasta, toss well, garnish with parsley (I like everything to have some green if possible) and serve.
This recipe only takes about 12 minutes to make from start to finish.

This looks tasty – my husband subs evaporated milk for the whipping cream in his Fettuccine Alfredo and it is delicious and a little lower in fat.

Oh my this looks delicious! I think I would add some broccoli, plus use lactose-free milk instead of half and half because I’m defective. I’d be tempted to add some bell pepper, but I’m not sure whether or not that’d be good. I think for those of us who are omnivorous, beef or chicken would also be yummy in it.

Yummy! I just got done making it. I like more cheese in mine though, so I eye balled it and added some more. Delish!

@Erin W. I often add more parmesan cheese too. Usually just to my bowl, but I’ve added more to the sauce too. Either way it’s yummy. Glad you liked it!
