Welcome to Vegetarian Foodie Fridays! Where we’re not just Meatless on Mondays, but all week through! Hi! My name is Melodie and I’m a long time vegetarian who’s into real food, holistic nutrition, and healthy living but suffers from a sweet tooth! (I love homemade baked goods and ice cream). To learn more about why I became a vegetarian or why I choose to raise my children vegetarian please click on my links.

- Please ensure you link back to your post and not your blog.
- Please use your best carnival manners.
- Please try to visit others’ posts.

My Recipe This Week
I made this for our Canadian Thanksgiving a couple weeks ago and it was smashingly yummy. I especially liked it drizzled with some of my Vegan Herb Gravy.
Shout Outs
Michelle at Health Food Lover posted the most wicked vegan, gluten, sugar and dairy free Chunky Monkey Banana Ice Cream last week. I got my bananas ready for freezing practically immediately but kept forgetting to make it until last night. I had promised my girls ice cream, and then just as I was about to go and buy some I remembered my frozen bananas and decided I would make them this treat instead. Oh so good, and anyone who keeps bananas, peanut butter and chocolate chips around the house can make this in a snap.
Joanna at Go Ahead and Snicker posted these wonderful Whole Grain Oatmeal Cookies that fit the bill for another homeschool baking session. These are so nice with a cup of hot tea on a cool Fall day. My girls who think they don’t like raisins loved them too.

Thanks for hosting. I am submitting my Lentil and Cauliflower Chili. I know it sounds odd, but I really like cauliflower in my chili.

Hi M – Thanks for the invitaztion to join the party. Here is a trick for cutting acorn squash… nestle the thing down in the drain of your impecably clean sink, stab it with your knife, then use a rocking motion to cut all the way through… even lengthwise. :}
I like to roast them cut side down (empty), but if you want to roast them cut side up, you can stabilize them by making a ring of foil to use as a base. Just set the rounded bottoms into the foil ring.

Hi Mel!
Thanks so much for trying and sharing my recipe! I’m so glad you and your daughters liked it! I’ve given it to various family members and they have all really loved it too!
Michelle
Thanks for you comment Melodie. Happy to know you and your husband liked the pizza!
Boy, I can’t wait to start looking through some of these recipes. Those Apple Cheddar Sticky Buns are calling my name!
I’ve linked up a recipe I made earlier this summer, Swiss Chard Gnocchi in Tomato Cream Sauce, inspired by my CSA. It was great cooking with local, in-season ingredients.
Thanks for hosting!

Hey Mel baby, sorry for the late linking but it was a busy birthday weekend here! I am sharing a very important article that I think your dedicated moms will be interested in as it starkly shows why school lunch as we currently know it is not good for you. Just look at the squirrels eating it out of the dumpster! If you know anyone who is involved in the school lunch debate, please send them this article as ammo! Hugs and thanks as always for hosting!
