THE BOOK PROJECT

Breastfeeding Moms Unite! invites you to submit your breastfeeding photo(s) for the Book Project. We welcome individual story submissions about this subject as well.

The purpose of The Book Project is to produce a book about breastfeeding in the public eye and the social issues breastfeeding women face in today’s mainstream culture.

Please use the link here or at the bottom of this page to send us your picture. Please note that we must have contact information from you in order to send you a Model Release form if your photo is chosen for the book.

Legal information:

Your photo will be examined by the owners of Breastfeeding Moms Unite!, who will decide on its suitability for publication. We cannot guarantee that your photo will be used.

Everyone who submits a photograph for our image gallery must read and agree to the following release.

You must be 21 years old a the time of submission.

Five (5) Photo/Text Submissions per person. A photo submission with accompanying text counts as one (1) Submission.

Suggested guidelines:

We want the breastfeeding photographs that you decide to submit to the Book Project to be the best possible.

Please consider these guidelines.

1. Send us the pictures as jpgs at the maximum size you can. (Although in some cases e-mail systems won’t accept a file larger than 5 megabytes.)
We prefer images that are 1280 pixels horizontal or vertical. We can crop or reduce larger pictures. We can also use good pictures that are shot at a smaller size.

2. The picture should not have the time and date embedded by the camera visible on the image.

3. The photo must be absent of any copyright or trademark infringements, i.e. a store’s corporate logo.

4.The photograph should be well exposed and have interesting composition.

5. The photo should be:
-of public breastfeeding OR
-banned from Facebook or other internet site OR
-unconventional (i.e. tandem nursing, nursing with breast exposed, nursing in bathtub, wet nursing, etc) OR
-one taken by a professional photographer who specializes in breastfeeding photography

Please include the following text with your photo submission:

1. Required: Name of the photographer
2. Required: Names of persons in the photo and the children’s ages (please put in the “Your Story” box)
3. Required, if applicable: The date (month and year are fine) the photo was banned from an Internet site, and which site banned it
4. Optional: A short story or comment about the context of the photo

I agree that Breastfeeding Moms Unite! may use the Photograph that I have submitted under the following terms and conditions:

I own this Photograph, and I own all the rights, including copyright, necessary to submit this Photograph to Breastfeeding Moms Unite!.

I am the sole owner of copyright on this Photograph, and I understand that I am granting Breastfeeding Moms Unite! the nonexclusive right to use it in any way that Breastfeeding Moms Unite! sees fit.

I consent to indemnify Breastfeeding Moms Unite! against any claim, demand, action, suit, or other proceedings against Breastfeeding Moms Unite! arising out of the use of the photograph and related to any false or inaccurate statement.

I grant this authorization free of charge.

Participants who have modeled or posed in the photo have assigned all relevant rights to me.
